Retro Racing

Vintage RC has always been a part of Hills Offroad RC, and each year we look at ways to bring back the fun to those whom simply want to enjoy the art of driving.

For 2026, Hills Offroad RC will host monthly Friday night events for Retro Racing for a fun packed condensed format of racing focused on time bracket racing instead of the usual focus on competition and outright winners and losers.

 

The ruleset will be as simple as possible and cars are to be pre-1992 buggies (modern re-release models are accepted), and Tamiya plastic kits either in 2WD/4WD configuration with a 21.5 brushless or 540 brushed motors .

 

The format will be 1 x 5 minute practice where an entrants top 5 fastest laps average will grade entrants in a time bracket group. Then we will head in to 3 x 5 minute heads-up style random grid races for each time bracket group.

 

Depending how popular these nights get, we may change the grading/grouping to cater for particular groupings or types of vehicles dependent on numbers. This will be monitored from event to event and ruleset changes may be activated if and as required.

One entry per person only and entry fee for the event will include dinner and drinks.

If you are super competitive, these nights are not for you. If you want enjoy your racing, drive some cool cars and social with like minded individuals, then this is you Friday night hangout!
